How is this Type of Eye Infection Diagnosed?

Persons having contact lenses infection witness red eyes, frequent tears, itching and burning and pain in frequent intervals. The pain is due to presence of foreign bodies like microorganisms in your eyes coming through contact lenses. While facing the above symptoms, you are advised to consult your eye doctor as soon as possible. Doctors use several methods to diagnose contact lens infection.

Scraps from the ulcer are examined minutely to ensure that the infection is done by lenses only. Doctors also examine Fluorescein stain to determine the magnitude of infections. Examination of cornea is also done thorough Keratometry. Response time of pupils is measured. Refraction test is another sophisticated way to diagnose contact lens eye infection. Though this test aims at determining whether the person is having normal vision, it can effectively measure the degree of infection. Slit-lamp examination or Biomicroscopy is also a reliable diagnosis in this regard. It measures the sensitivity of the cornea and pupils and detects the degree of infection.

Tear test or dry eye test can also be performed to examine the health of your eyes. This test is performed while the victim experiences contact lens infection symptoms like dry eyes or excessive tearing.
