Microsporum Canis is the main cause of ringworms within cats, dogs and zoophilic species that are fungal. In humans it is a dermatophytosis that is sporadic and can cause Tinea Capitis within children and even dogs plus cats. Usually Microsporum canis is found in climates that are very warm causing infections in humans.
This can spread by having contact that is direct with animals that are infected or either by coming in direct contact with the arthrospores. The arthrospores would have to have objects that are contaminated like the equipment that is grooming. When treatment is not provided to the patient with this the spores can become really resistant and might infect the animal or either human for around two years or more. Cats and dogs with long hair are easy targets for this and normally the infection on them is on the pawas or either the ear.
