Is Sepsis Curable?

Yes, sepsis is curable, if it is treated properly. Sepsis is a severe bacterial/fungal infection caused in the blood stream and tissues. It is vital to treat even the minor infection because; if it increases in intensity then it may take a severe form and may create many health complications. Such a severe infection which is life threatening is often called as septicemia.

However, for curing sepsis, it is important to identify the symptoms of sepsis in the patients. Only then there will be apt cure. Many times, the symptoms are ignored and a small infection takes form of chronic incurable sepsis which may even lead to death. Patients with pneumonia, diabetes, severe injuries have to face life threatening complications if not attended on time. Many nursing home residents have to bear the brutal outcomes of sepsis mainly because they could not get timely treatment or because symptoms could not be identified.

Sepsis when treated fast and using aggressive treatments are often cured.  Severe complications that occur due to sepsis can be death. It may even lead to organ failure like kidney failure, liver failure etc. It may even cause hypotension, renal dysfunction, septic shock etc. It is therefore vital to seek treatment for sepsis in the initial stage itself.
