What are the Symptoms of Nocardiosis?

The symptoms of Nocardiosis may vary from one person to another. It is a must to leave it on the health care provider to establish the presence of this disease in the person. The chances of misdiagnosis of this disease, especially at the initial stages, are quite likely as its symptoms resemble the alert signals observed in pneumonia. The person facing the preliminary form of the disease experiences symptoms that indicate towards the lung disorders.

Some of these signs are persistent pain in the chest at the time of inhalation of the breath, flow of blood with coughs, high fevers, and unusual sweats at night, abrupt weight loss and immense loss of appetite. The disease also manifests in the form of cerebral Nocardiosis. In this condition the patient experiences high body temperature, headaches and disrupted functioning of all those parts of the brain which have undergone attacks of the fungus responsible for the spread of this disease called Nocardia asteroids.

 On the skin, this disease may lead to the development of ulcers and nodules which contain the contagious organisms that spread this disease. The disease, in its severity may assume a chronic form and can trigger the development of draining tracts on the skin.
