Treatment For Dermatophytes

The treatment for Dermatophytes will vary depending on if the infection is either severe or if it is moderate. There are a lot of common treatments provided for Dermatophytes.

Treatments for Dermatophytes:

- Topical Agents
- Imidazole cream
- Oral griseofulvin
- Oral Terbinafine
- Itraconazole
- ciclopiroz
- naftifine
- tolnaftate
- terbinafine
- haloprogin
- wet dressings
- keratolytics
- scrabs and scales removed
- hyperkeratotic lesions removed from soles and the heels

While some treatments might work for one infection it might not work for another and sometimes the treatments might need to be switched or either the dosage uped or lowered. The side effects of treatment often vary depending on what medication or treatment is used. It can take anywhere from a few weeks for treatment to show signs of working or either to a few months and sometimes even a year. In most cases the doctor requires a follow up visit a couple of times to observe the treatment being used and to see if it is working or not. When patients are diagnosed with having Dermatophytes treatment is usually started right away to prevent further infection.
