Treatment For Intertrigo

The treatment for Intertrigo will vary depending on the condition and sometimes it might vary depending on what caused Intertrigo. Patients often go back to visit the doctor for follow ups to make sure that the treatment given for Intertrigo is working.

Treatment for Intertrigo:

- Antifungal creams
- keeping the skin dry
- drying solutions

Antifungal creams and medications used for Intertrigo:

- Griseofulvin
- Grifulvin V
- topical zinc oxide cream
- antibacterial soap
- Hydrocortisone
- Balmex
- Sudocrem
- antiperspirants

When the treatment or medications for Intertrigo aren't working the doctor will either lower or up the dosage of the medication or switch the cream or try a drying solution such as Burow's compresses. It can sometimes take a few weeks or even a few months and sometimes up to a year for the patient to fully heal from Intertrigo. Once the patient is fully recovered they only need to see the doctor one more time for a check up and then after that the patient is normally not required to go back.
