Millions of women around the world suffer from a yeast infection. A yeast infection is an infection that is caused by a type of fungus known as candida albicans. Candidiasis is another name for a yeast infection. 

A yeast infection thrives off of the moist, warm areas of your body such as your mouth or an areas of your skin that is moist. Yeast infections have been commonly know to cause a vagina infection, it is known to some as a vulvovaginal candidiasis. 

Illness, pregnancy, certain medications, and stress can cause the grown the yeast in your body to increase. If you are on an antibiotics for strep throat, the medication can be killing all the good bacteria that is in your body, so be sure that you check the growth of the candida within your vagina. Yeast can also increase in a female, if her blood sugar is running high. If a female with diabetes does not keep them under control, they are putting themselves in an increasing risk to get a yeast infection. 

If a female has a yeast infection they can spread it to their sexual partner.
